TAKE SIDES.
battle of the late-90s alterna-rock songs about regretting an abortion:
-"the freshmen" by the verve pipe
-"brick" by ben folds five
personally, my vote goes to "the freshmen," but it's close.

Freshmen, in a walk. It's tighter, more convincingly anguished, more evocative of the situation. Brick is bloated and could kind of be about anything--does "she's a brick and I'm drowning slowly" even mean anything, at least anything about abortion? Neither song drops the A-word, but Freshmen's enigmatic lyrical reference ("stop a baby's breath") trumps Brick's (that line about pacing around the parking lot, I guess).
Plus, according to the lead singer, Freshmen was inspired by the (justly) forgotten 1990 Brando/Broderick mafia comedy THE FRESHMAN. Well, that and his girlfriend's abortion. She didn't really commit suicide though.
