for just a few minutes, two of the great men of english-language popular music met and sang a song together. one was a legend who would die in a few weeks; the other had just recorded "heroes." the latter didn't want to sing "the little drummer boy," so he wrote his own counterpoint to be sung in tandem with the former. and for a few short minutes in 1977, that crazy little thing we call divinity smiled on a tv studio.
